Resumen

MONTGOMERY, Cameron. THE INNER EXPERIENCE OF PRIMARY TRAINEE TEACHERS. Paradígma [online]. 2005, vol.26, n.2, pp.163-194. ISSN 1011-2251.

This study was interested in knowing how 46 elementary school female student teachers at Laval University (Quebec, Canada) felt while they were doing student teaching. Likes and dislikes as well as their goals and wishes before finishing student teaching were explored. Our study thus examined emotions or affect in student teachers during student teaching.  We were interested in the three following objectives: a) which emotions student teachers expressed?; b) what are the negative and positive emotional sources?; c) what are their future goals following student teaching?  Student teachers expressed more positive than negative emotions.  More than 50% of student teachers feel satisfied.  Stress and fatigue constituted the main sources of negative emotions.  One student teacher experienced severe dissatisfaction leading her to abandon student teaching.  Few student teachers affirm having confidence in themselves.

Palabras clave : feelings; emotions; future; satisfaction; confidence.
