Resumen

BAIRRAL, Marcelo A. THEORIES TO ANALYSIS THE LEARNING OF MATHEMATICS IN VIRTUAL CONTEXT. Paradígma [online]. 2005, vol.26, n.2, pp.197-214. ISSN 1011-2251.

Studies on the learning of mathematics, which can happen with the Internet and virtual environments as interactive support, are inchoate in educational research. As a result of the scarcity of research, we still haven’t seen the development of theoretical referents to support in-depth discussions about learning and its analysis. In this article, we elucidate some theoretical presuppositions on which we base our research and we present a conceptual approach for a virtual learning environment. This approach constitutes an important formative strategy for the studies which concern the individual-technology-mathematics mediation. We think that the projects which use virtual scenarios, whether in online or off-line dynamics, without mentioning their theoretical basis, may reinforce the technological bias which is often attributed to the use of ICT, and maintain the idea that learning in such contexts lacks quality. The theoretical possibilities described below do not exhaust discussions in this field of research. They have to be used for new questionings and theoretical positioning.
