This research investigates the factorial validity of the Reading Attitude Scale for university students, it also tries to identify differences related to gender and type of course. The number of 280, students attending administration, psychology and radiology courses at 3 universities of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, participated of the collectively application of the scale. The factorial exploratory analysis indicated the existence of one structure with two factors in the scale, they are, positive and negative attitudes towards reading. The values of alpha of Cronbach of the role scale and the two subscales, appointed that the instrument has acceptable traces of internal consistency.
