The article is presented in this report, "What is investigated in Mathematics Education?: Perspective of an investigator in development" fundamental purpose is to inform the scientific community at large, the contributions given to research in Mathematics Education of Venezuela, generated from the different areas of activity where there has been the development of its investigative author. The work was done on the basis of research experience gained by the author and reviewing various sources related to the topic in question, drawn from the databases of Information and Documentation Center and the Central Library's Pedagogical Institute of Maracay; Department Library Didactics mathematics from the University of Granada, among others. The results show that in the investigation there is a current dominance in the work field descriptive, exploratory, evaluative, ethnographic, case studies, evaluation of programs and projects with lower intensity feasible
