CARCAMO VASQUEZ, Héctor; MENDEZ BUSTOS, Pablo y REBOLLEDO CARRENO, Alexis. Trends qualitative and quantitative approach in articles published in scientific library on line (scielo). Paradígma [online]. 2009, vol.30, n.2, pp.179-200. ISSN 1011-2251.
This article accounts for the analysis of the procedures employed in the research of educational sciences: How are these procedures presented? What are the strategies most frequently declared?; what have the most relevant trends in the past few years? We aim at revealing the trajectories traced by the applied procedures in the collection and analysis of the data. In order to do so, bibliometric techniques have been applied by resourcing to secondary information, considering specifically the journals indexed in the Scientific Library Online (SCIELO), which declared in its mission as a general objective, the educational sciences. A quantitative methodology of a descriptive reach was employed. The research was based on three main aspects, methodology, information revealing and data analysis. The results showed there is internal coherence in the reviewed articles as to the decisions made according to the aims. Besides that, the presence of quantitative and qualitative research was evident, but the use of methodologies combining both is not.
