Abstract

The purpose of this study was studying the construction of meaning around the concept of life in terms of complexity in students of the Master of Education, minor in Biology Education at the Pedagogical University Experimental Libertador (UPEL), so develop an integrated vision of life processes from the application of a conceptual model proposed (Von Bertalanffy, 1976; Morin, 1998, Arana, 2012), aimed at making explicit the interactions that occur between the organs and systems of a living being. An investigation was carried out critical-interpretive, based on a qualitative-ethnographic approach. For information, we used participant observation and non-participating (application of two questionnaires) to 10 key informants selected “a posteriori”. Results determine: a) The variety of meanings about the concept prior life the informants, b) That the use of strategies involving the externalization of mental representations in proceedings heuristics and analog models, helped to structure a mental model about the concept under study from the complex perspective c) The development of own meanings through an inclusive educational model influenced enrichment and / or restructuring of the concept under study.
