This article describes a proposal of evaluation of transversal education in the formation of ethical values related to problem solving in mathematics in secondary schools of Chile. The study is part of a research project of wide range, that was sponsored by the Comisión Nacional de Investigación, Ciencia y Tecnología de Chile (National Commission of investigation, science and technology), and was part of the didactics of Mathematics area of Universidad de Los Lagos, in two regions of the country. Quantitative and qualitative methodology were applied, and teachers and students interviews were included. Also, a test about math solving problem situations related to ethical values was conducted. Moreover, the results allow knowing the situation of the transversal focus in the curricular field, the degree in which math teachers foster values with the contents of their specific knowledge.
