Mathematics Education as a disciplinary field for the production of knowledge about the processes of teaching and learning of mathematics, consolidates increasingly internationally. Multiple studies are carried out in different countries; this has led to the use with different meanings of various expressions, such as Didactics (Education), Concept, Competency, Scheme, Situation, among others. In this brief essay, the author performs some reflections intended to clarify, from a certain perspective, the meanings of those key terms that often appear in texts dealing with research in mathematics education.
