TARASTI, Eero. The Semiotics of Resistance: To Be, Memory and History. The Counter-Current of Signs. Opcion [online]. 2006, vol.22, n.50, pp.28-54. ISSN 1012-1587.
In this research we analyze some semiotic strategies that cultures have developed in order to resist the processes of cultural homogenization and the exclusion of human beings from this new form of economic and administrative efficiency, of inalterable nature, sort of new civilization, called Globalization. In order to achieve our goals we propose fourteen characteristics-processes of the human condition in the global era. Then we analyze three forms by which the counter-current of signs establishes strategies of resistance. These three forms are being, memory and history. Based on Hegel, Bergson, Ricoeur and Eco we conclude proposing questions about the risks that the global era brings to the moral dimension of culture, and the threats that technological development may bring to freedom.
