This study developed some theoretical, methodological and practical proposals for analyzing the meanings and aesthetic dimensions of speeches, whose most outstanding manifestations are in literary texts. In the elegies selected for investigation, some metaphors, visionary images and synesthesia were studied, grouped into domains of experience and lexical fields, using analytic instruments taken from aesthetics, semantics and linguistic pragmatics. This approach makes it possible to present as results the tension of causal and determinist forces between life and death, and at the same time, due to its intentionality and literary mediation, send us back to possible worlds of symbolic imagination, poetic liberation and aesthetic pleasure.
