ARIZA, Miguel. Presuppositional semiotics and the lattice theory. Opcion [online]. 2009, vol.25, n.58, pp.35-53. ISSN 1012-1587.
Louis Hjelmslev, in his Prolegomena to a theory of language, anticipates the foundations for an axiomatically consistent semiotic theory. The theoretical scaffolding built by Hjelmslev seeks to form a linguistic algebra having as its articulating principle the presupposition relationship. Process and system are the fundamental ambits in which semiotic magnitudes are manifested and they are the points of view from which the analysis is made. This paper attempts to show, from a semiotic-mathematical perspective and in concordance with Roberto Floress theoretical proposal, that the ordinations of events in a tale generated presuppositionally, in both ambits, integrate partially ordered sets susceptible of being conceived within a relational algebra, whose geometric representation is of a diagrammatic character (presupposition trees and lattice).
