Abstract

SOTO, Antonio; VALENTE, María Rosa  and  STAGG, Marcial. Management values as fundamental pillars for productive interaction between the university and productive sector: a case study . Opcion [online]. 2009, vol.25, n.58, pp.70-95. ISSN 1012-1587.

The purpose of the following research, based on the theories of authors such as García (1997), Dess et ál. (2003) and Paredes (1993), is to determine management values from the perspectives of the university and the productive sector, as fundamental pillars for developing and maintaining successful relations between these two actors. The study was descriptive, qualitative-quantitative, with a non-experimental, trans-sectional-descriptive design; data was collected from multiple sources, obtained through the documentary observation method, and supported by the content analysis technique using matrix analysis. Also, the survey technique was used and two self-administered questionnaires with a Likert-type scale were designed and applied to 34 university research institute directors and 10 managers from companies or productive sector agencies that establish some kind of relationship with the university research institute directors. Results revealed that values are not experienced in a consistent manner by the university research institute directors and the production sector, and therefore, neither the sense of belonging to an organization nor the synergy needed to build strong, transparent relationships and contribute significantly to the social common good, agreeing on a sustainable future, is being guaranteed to the personnel involved.

Keywords : values; management; interaction; university; productive sector.
