One objective of this article, taking an anthropological conception of ritual process as its background, is to try to establish a theoretical-type, critical basis that will demonstrate the inefficacy and low consistency of the rites of passage in our Western educational systems. Using an exegesis of the models of anthropological understanding of ritual as its method, this study notes the implications of the idea of ritual efficacy for the analysis of pedagogical practice, obtaining as main result, rejection of the same in our school spaces.
