Resumen
BRUZUAL, Raquel y BUITRAGO, Myriam. Linguistic evaluation of oral production in a patient with a mental disorder. Opcion [online]. 2009, vol.25, n.60, pp.9-27. ISSN 1012-1587.
The objective of this study is to evaluate, from a linguistic point of view, the oral production of nouns and verbs expressed by an adult with a mental disorder. The theoretical proposals of Puyuelo (2000), Payrato (2003), Abusamra et al. (2004), were analysed. Methodology consisted of a case study and description, analyzing a sample of 100 words produced by the subject to whom a family interview and three tests were applied to determine the oral production of nouns, verbs, and verbs and nouns within a context. Results indicate that the linguistic level reached, according to characteristics of phonology, syntax, morphology, semantics and pragmatics, corresponds to that of a 2-to-4 year-old child. Conclusions were that the person presents a language production disorder which may be of neurological origin.
