CONTRERAS NATERA, MIGUEL ÁNGEL. Impensando la ciudadanía moderna: alteridad y racismo en el sistema mundial. CDC [online]. 2003, vol.20, n.54, pp.29-54. ISSN 1012-2508.

The purpose of the following text is to argue about alterity´s problems, its concomitants and implications in the debate about the broadness of citizenship rights. We start, thus, a critical dialogue with Philosopher Richard Rorty´s intellectual work, considering the context of the globalization proceses. To start with, we show Rorty´s defense of we/us/our on the conteporary debate about the factum of pluralism. Secondly, we entail Westerns ethnocentrism’s defense with practices of racism on the world-system´s social cultural sphere. Besides, we inquire about the interactions between racism, cultural resistances, and the memory of politics. Finally we abide by the theoretic and practical consequences of the precedent researches, and try to model possible cultural politics’ actions on the radical democratic paradigm.
