The present essay establishes the relationship between the neoliberal thought and the North American foreign policy after September 11, 2001. First, it deals with the origins of neoconservative thinking in the context of the Cold War. Second, it addresses the program content of neoconservativism as an answer to the emergence of counterculture movements during the sixties. In the third place, the neoconservative critic of western modernity is explained, followed by an analysis of the neoconservative offensive from September 11, 1973 on and the restructuration processes it induces. Finally, it establishes the relationship between the Project for the New American Century and the USA foreign policy in the context of September 11, 2001.
