The purpose of this article is to analyze how some young Venezuelan university students and political leaders build representations of their political identities through discursive practices. It uses discourse analysis taking into account the production of discourse and focuses on those speeches produced by the student movement and leaders of this movement with more significant visibility in the recent student protests. We conclude that the discursive practices of young university students and young university leaders can be seen as ways to construct representations of their political identities. At the same time, these representations are part of the political and ideological struggle between two different points of view regarding Venezuelan society
