Like in most of Latin-American countries, urban participation is strengthening since the last quarter of the 20th century, acknowledging the emergence of new local voices on the urban stage. With Chavez governments and the politicization of social issues in a deeply unequal urban order, participative experiences are even more polemical in Caracas. It is crucial to situate urban governance so that socio-spatial interactions and the production of the city can be critically assessed. A method for comparing actor’s logics related with urban planning and housing issues is offered regarding Caracas since 1958. It allows identifying main tendencies in the production of the city, managing a comparative approach over time and space, and embodying and politicizing current and improperly isolated experiences.
