This article focuses on the management of international cooperation based on a case study: the Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires in the period 1999-2010. Concepts such as cooperation networks, negotiation margins and explicit and implicit policies constitute the notional framework. Semi-structured interviews and documentary analyses are the methodological tools. Two patterns of cooperation were identified: first, informal links and personal contacts; second, a period of university policies on international cooperation and information flow. Both forms overlap through time, resulting in a prominence of the personal and spontaneous exchanges between researchers and a specific area of international relations that works as a source of information on opportunities in the global context.
