The objective was to characterize the system of terraces of the hill Tenismo in Calixtlahuaca, Toluca, Mexico, highlighting its main components: retaining walls, ditches, vegetation and crops. From the qualitative research, direct observation and description of agroecosystem components 15 terraces of the middle and upper hillside Tenismo described. The results indicate that Calixtlahuaca terraces with rock wall and metepantles (semiterraza), is a system that contributes to the conservation of the slopes and where it is possible to obtain subsistence crops.
