GABALDON, Luis Gerardo  y  SERRANO NAVEDA, Carla. Femminity and control of violent youngsters. ESPACIO ABIERTO [online]. 2022, vol.31, n.4, pp.84-98.  Epub 12-Jul-2024. ISSN 1315-0006.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7430419.

Women and crime discussion goes through facts as poor representation of women in police records and even low proportion of victims of violence along victimization surveys. Latin American approaches emphasize vulnerability related to criminal nets controlled by men, feebleness within the patriarchal structure of the family and sex prejudices in secondary criminalization. This article bears on the discourses of women related to sentenced violent youngsters, exploring perceptions and expectancies on their behavior. According to a matrisocial perspective, we address mothers, grandmothers and aunt perspectives on those youngsters, particularly related to provision of resources, surveillance, control and expectancies, proposing implications for social control and accounts related to different audiences, besides the criminal justice system, where accounts and testimonies are usually presented and processed for judgement and adjudication of crime and juvenile violence.

Palabras clave : violence; matrisociality; juvenile justice; youth; social control.
