TUMI QUISPE, Jesús Evaristo. Attitudes of the population regarding sanitation and environmental management and pollution of the coastal coastline of the district of Juli-Puno, Perú. ESPACIO ABIERTO [online]. 2022, vol.31, n.4, pp.150-163. Epub 12-Jul-2024. ISSN 1315-0006. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7430438.
In recent decades on the coastal coastline of Juli (province of Chucuito and department of Puno), the problem of pollution has become more acute, due to the disorderly growth of the urban population, poor management of solid waste and wastewater discharge, served that without any type of treatment are discharged into the bay of Lake Titicaca; severely affecting its biodiversity, the environment and human health. Faced with this problematic situation, the study was aimed at characterizing the pro-environmental attitudes that the population has regarding sanitation and environmental management and pollution of the coastal coastline of the Juli district. The research design is non-experimental, quantitative and cross-sectional; descriptive and correlational; socio-environmental dimension and micro level of analysis. Results: The attitudes that the local population has about sanitation and environmental management, pollution of the coastal coastline and sanitation and environmental education, is differentiated, and can be negative, moderately positive or positive; situation that is conditioned by the socioeconomic status, access to information on sanitation and environmental education and the spatial location of the dwelling in the immediate or mediate environment of the coastal coastline of the city of Juli. It is concluded that, given the precariousness of the environmental attitudes of the population, it is imperative to design an environmental education program and an effective regional environmental institutionality in its intervention process in the perspective of sustainable human development.
