POVEDA PINEDA, Derly; CHACON BENAVIDES, José y CIFUENTES MEDINA, José. University desertion in times of Covid-19: Case of the Bachelor of Basic Primary Education. ESPACIO ABIERTO [online]. 2025, vol.34, n.2, pp.184-195. Epub 15-Mayo-2025. ISSN 1315-0006. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.15110061.
Dropout rates are addressed as a matter of primary concern in the academic policies that shape university life. The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic generated significant changes not only in daily habits but also shook the pedagogical models of university education, which cannot be excluded from the methodological reforms necessitated by the pandemic. In this sense, classes conducted virtually were considered the closest and most efficient solution for training future professionals, thus enabling the smooth continuation of educational work. The objective is to raise awareness of Higher Education in virtual environments, with e-learning as an immediate response to confinement, student dropout rates, and challenges and opportunities for students in the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education to avoid abandoning their studies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
