RODRIGUEZ, Lucía; ORAMAS, Arlene y RODRIGUEZ, Elizabeth. Stress in the teachers of basic education: Guanajuato, Mexico. Salud de los Trabajadores [online]. 2007, vol.15, n.1, pp.5-16. ISSN 1315-0138.
International studies have indicated the increase of tensions and pressures that generate stress in the educational work. With object to identify the main sources of stress in the teachers of basic education of Guanajuato, it was applied to an adaptation of the scale of Travers and Cooper. The analysis of internal consistency of the instrument showed a coefficient of 97 (Conbrach´s Alpha). The method of factorial analysis allowed to detect the distribution of the teaching staff according to the subjective perception of the pressure sources that cause stress in the educational labor. The 75 items of the scale were integrated in four categories grouped in the following factors: I. Working conditions and opportunities of development, II. Relational demands and social conditions of the work, III. Organization factors of teaching, and IV. Social support, autonomy and conflict. According to the total answers, the 7.2% of the teachers indicate severe pressure, 46.7% moderate pressure and 34.2% light pressure. Were not significant differences according to sex and geographic region. Results indicate the importance of deepening in the sources of stress and the intervention programs to improve quality of life in teachers.
