COBOS SANCHIZ, David. A pilot experience for distance training of safety representatives. Salud de los Trabajadores [online]. 2010, vol.18, n.2, pp.129-140. ISSN 1315-0138.
This paper describes the main elements in the design, implementation and evaluation of an entry level distance training program for safety representatives, originally developed as a pilot project by the Spanish Instituto Sindical de Trabajo, Ambiente y Salud (Trade Union Institute of Work, Environment and Health) in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. The main objective of the training course was to build capacity for carrying out the function of the safety representatives, by reflecting on the role of risk management, providing training in the required skills for trade union intervention and carrying out practice experiences and simulations in occupational and environmental health problem-solving. The experience identified several shortcomings, provided recommendations for improving the pilot version and verified that this on-campus/off-campus format has many advantages that justify continuing this approach in coming years.
