GIANUZZI, Elisa Raquel. Worker mental health and the role of occupational psychology in "recovering companies". Salud de los Trabajadores [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.1, pp.49-60. ISSN 1315-0138.
The phenomenon of recovering companies in Argentina began in the 1980s, in a political and socioeconomic context characterized by the implementation of the neoliberal model that provoked a crisis of production, employment, debt, flight of capital, and privatizations, among other things. Company self-management involved new subjective positionings by workers,, in relation to the period prior to the takeover. There were those who resisted, in order to maintain their income and identity. In this study, we analyzed terms such as human capital, employability and competencies, frequently used in the field of occupational psychology. In the setting of recovering companies, these terms turned out to be incompatible with the horizontal social relationships that emerged among workers. This was a qualitative study, consisting of in-depth interviews and passive observation of participants in recovering companies. We concluded that there was little involvement of occupational psychology in recovering companies and/or factories, and a general absence of scientific knowledge applicable to the reality of these companies.
