The aim of this paper is to describe cases of adverbial neutralization occurring in descriptive locative adverbs in Venezuelan Spanish. Based on the postulates of the functionalist Spanish school of Oviedo, the theoretical considerations about the combinatorial and classification of descriptive locative adverbs presented by Martínez (1994) and Meilán (1998) are reviewed. Methodologically, the study sample comprise several corpus of the Venezuelan speech. From them, the descriptive locative adverbial units are isolated, by selecting the statement analysis unit. From the results and relevant conclusion show that, as a distinguishing feature of the Venezuelan Spanish ,the loss of the opposition semantic content ‘directional’ / ‘non-directional’ in the behavior of some locative adverbs (put it adelante/ put it delante).
