Resumen

DEVERA, Rodolfo et al. Seronegativity to chagas infection in the community la carolina, Bolivar state, Venezuela. Saber [online]. 2014, vol.26, n.3, pp.347-352. ISSN 1315-0162.

In July 2011, a cross sectional study in the rural community La Carolina, Heres Municipality of Bolivar state, was conducted to determine the prevalence of anti-Trypanosoma cruzi antibodies among inhabitants. A set of 91 people of all ages and both genders was evaluated, although the group was predominantly female (65.9%) and under 20 years old (63.8%). None of the persons in the group turned reactive. In spite of the absence of seropositivity found, it is recommended to implement measures for epidemiological surveillance and health education as this is a community where some factors converge that may determine the existence of Chagas disease.

Palabras clave : Chagas disease; Trypanosoma cruzi; serology.
