Abstract

CAZORLA-PERFETTI, Dalmiro. Annotated checklist of the phlebotomine sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae, Phlebotominae) cited for Venezuela. Saber [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.2, pp.178-231. ISSN 1315-0162.

An updated taxonomic annotated checklist has been made of phlebotomine sandfly species actually recorded from Venezuela (Diptera: Psychodidae, Phlebotominae). The revision revealed that up till now there has been recorded 112 species, grouped into one tribu (Phlebotomini), four subtribus (Brumptomyiina, Sergentomyiina, Lutzomyiina, Psychodopygina) and 15 genus (Brumptomyia spp., Micropygomyia spp., Sciopemyia spp., Lutzomyia spp., Migonemyia spp., Pintomyia spp., Pressatia spp., Trichopygomyia spp., Evandromyia spp., Psathyromyia spp., Viannamyia spp., Bichromomyia spp., Psychodopygus spp., Nyssomyia spp., Trichophoromyia spp.). Highlighted notes on their taxonomic, historic, bioecological, geographical distribution and epidemiological aspects and research needs, is given in the catalogue.
