Comments are presented and complement the ideas of a recent study published in the journal Saber [26(4):420- 440, 2014], about the finding in natura of metacyclic trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma (Shizotrypanum) cruzi (Euglenozoa: Kinetoplastea, Trypanosomatidae), etiologic agent of Chagas disease. This protozoan was found in the faeces of adults of the triatomine insect Psammolestes arthuri (Hemiptera: Reduviidae, Triatominae), caught sympatrically with triatomines Rhodnius prolixus and Triatoma maculata within the nests of passerine birds from several rural communities of Anzoátegui state, in the Venezuelan northeastern region.
