A report is made of the presence of the cnidarian Porpita porpita (Hydrozoa: Anthoathecata, Porpitidae) or blue button, collected on beaches of Buchuaco, Paraguana Peninsula, Falcon State, semiarid north-western region of Venezuela. Comments are made on the potential occurrence of dermatitis in humans due to contact with this hidroid.
