Abstract
PERDOMO, Bexi; FLORES, Marco and DAVILA, Deysimar. THEORETICAL ISSUES TO CREATE COMPUTARIZED EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES ON ORAL HEALTH FOR DEAF PEOPLE. Saber [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.4, pp.526-634. ISSN 2343-6468.
Deaf people face communicational barriers impeding the access to educative information on health; the teacher can significantly contribute to modify this reality. The purpose of the present review was to expose the basic theoretical issues to be considered in the process of generating computerized educational resources dealing with oral health for deaf people. Those issues include the role of multidisciplinary work, identification of the Deaf Community as a social group with its own particular cultural and linguistic features, cultural and conceptual features related to sign language and some considerations for the design of the educational resource. It is concluded that those who plan the creation of educational resources for the promotion of oral health for deaf people should form multidisciplinary teams. Oral health educational resources directed to deaf people should be culturally and linguistically different from those designed for hearing persons and, hence, previous to the design there should be an approach to the culture and the language of the Deaf Community for which it is being designed.
