Resumen

The first record of Falco columbarius (Falconidae) is made for Sucre State , and Vireo altiloquus (Vireonidae), Chloroceryle aenea (Alcedinidae), Calliphlox amethystina (Trochilidae) and Elaenia chiriquensis (Tyrannidae) extend their distribution range inside this State. An individual of F. columbarius (Mer lin) was photographed in Chacopata lagoon mangroves, in northeastern Sucre S tate. An individual of V. altiloquus (Black - whiskered Vireo) was captured in northwestern Araya Peninsula in a coastal xeric habitat; previously, this species had been recorded in foothill deciduous forest s of southwestern Paria Peninsula. The American Pygmy Kingfisher , C. aenea , was identified and captured in gallery forest near Campoma - Vista lagoon - fluvial complex sited to the center - western of Sucre State; previously, this species was recorded from the eastern Sucre State. The Amethyst Woodstar , C. amethystine, was observed and captured in a cloudy montane forest, in Las Melenas hill (810 masl); previously, this species was recorded in Turimiquire Ser rania, from southwestern of Sucre S tate . The lesser elaenia , E. chiriquensis , was captured in a cloudy montane forest, in La Cerbatana hill (764 masl), in the northern slope of Paria Peninsula, in northern Sucre State; previously, this species was recorded from the Turimiquire serrania, at southwestern Sucre State.
