Abstract
RAMOS, Katiuska and JIMENEZ, Ygmar. Application of experimental design in the degradation of wastewater by the heterogeneous photo-Fenton process using a mixed oxide of MgFeAl. Saber [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.3, pp.574-582. ISSN 2343-6468.
The mixed oxide MgFeAl from layered double hydroxide was used as a heterogeneous photo-Fenton catalyst for the treatment of a highly polluted wastewater coming from a chemistry laboratory. This wastewater is characterized by a high chemical oxygen demand (COD, 67 g/L). A multilevel factorial design was used to evaluate the effects of the two independent variables: catalyst and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) concentrations. Wastewater degradation was followed in terms of COD. Best reaction conditions were: [H2O2] = 90 g/L, [catalyst] = 8 g/L and 4 h of treatment. Under optimum conditions, resulted in a 86 % reduction in COD.
