A study was conducted in Brisas de Guarapiche neighborhood, Maturin municipality, Monagas state, Venezuela, with the main objective of designing a sustainable urban intervention model that is called Ecobarrios, highlighting the value of local interventions in the territory, besides of its contextualization in agreement with its own environmental conditions. In this sense, the needs of the community were identified for multiple aspects, such as social, economic, ecological and environmental. The application of SWOT analysis to the diagnosis made it possible to create a conceptual structure for the evaluation of territorial vulnerability to confront social and environmental conflicts. This allowed to establish overcoming strategies and acting lines that were related with: identity construction starting from a contact with nature, social cohesion, urban mobility and urban densification as a result of the introduction of new urban planning approaches.
