To investigate beta hemolytic streptococci, pharyngeal swabs provenient from 181 asymptomatic patients of two military institutions of Maracaibo city were processed. The samples were inoculated in kanamycin-sheep blood-agar (ASCK) and the identification was realized through conventional biochemical test and serology. Of the total of specimens analyzed, 79 (43,64%) were positive. Serological distribution was following: Group G: 40 (50,63%); B: 19 (24,05%); A: 11 (13,92%); C: 7 (8,86%); F: 2 (2,53%). Seven (17,50%) group G strains were sensitive to penicillin. It is require to continue investigating in order to establish in the carriers state contributes spreading of beta homolytic streptococci, particularly A, C and G groups that have been associated with non suppurative consequences.
