AREVALO, Z et al. Implementation of a protocol for the identification of Vibrio parahaemolyticus by PCR.. Rev. Soc. Ven. Microbiol. [online]. 2003, vol.23, n.2, pp.124-126. ISSN 1315-2556.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus is one of the main Gram-negative bacteria causing food poisoning and acute gastroenteritis in humans, it causes hemorrhagic septicemia and ulcer on fish skin, becoming one of the major loss causing in fish explotation. This work shows the establishment of a protocol of identification of V. parahaemolyticus by polymerase chain reaction. There were made genetic characterizations of 24 Vibrio sp. isolates gotten from Bacteriology laboratory Sanidad Animal-CENIAP-INIA in Maracay, Aragua state. In genomic identification the isolates were characterized through PCR, following the methodology from Lee and col. (1995) with modifications in the extraction of DNA which was made with DNAzol®. The primers used were 5'-TGCGAATTCGATAGGGTGT TAACC-3' and 5'-GAATCCTTGAA CATACGCAGC-3'. From 24 isolates analyzed by PCR, it was gotten 7 amplified which were identified as V. Parahaemolyticus
