Abstract

RODRIGUES FRIAS, Danila Fernanda; DE SOUZA, Vanessa Felipe  and  KOZUSNY-ANDREANI, Dora Inês. Investigation of campylobacteriosis causative agents and bovine genital trichomoniasis in pure breeders of the southern Mato Grosso state. Rev. Soc. Ven. Microbiol. [online]. 2017, vol.37, n.2, pp.50-53. ISSN 1315-2556.

The objective of this work was to investigate the presence of Campylobacter fetus and Tritrichomonas fetus in bulls used in natural selection of herds. A total of 70 smegma samples were collected in triplicate, with intervals of 15 days, from breeding bulls that were in sexual rest. For culture of C. fetus the material was transported in Lander medium and incubated for 72 h at 37oC; after inoculation with enriched BHI agar and with a selective supplement for Campylobacter were incubated in microaerophilic cells at 37ºC for 72 hours. For T. fetus culture, samples were placed in Lactopep medium and incubated at 37 °C for 10 days. None of the samples produced growth of T. fetus and/or C. fetus. Thus, it was concluded that in high genetic herds the strategies indicated for the control of the pathogens researched happen to be effective, which is very important for the maintenance of the reproductive efficiency of the herd.

Keywords : Campylobacter fetus; Tritrichomonas foetus; bovine; reproductive diseases.
