Abstract

LAZO BRIONES, Pablo. Self-Criticism of “One Philosophy” Via a Philosophy of (Multi)Culture. Utopìa y Praxis Latinoamericana [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.45, pp.65-80. ISSN 1315-5216.

This article reflects on the nature of philosophy coming from different cultural experiences that can originate it. From the pursuit of a philosophy of culture that is hermeneutic and critical at the same time, this essay proposes to go beyond the ethnocentric or “provincial” role of philosophy, especially when it has to do with the interpretive understanding of symbolic configurations in different cultures and criticism of the ideology of multiculturalism. Therefore, a moment of radical self-transformation for our cultural heritage is proposed by making philosophy a radical transfiguration of rational logos.

Keywords : philosophy; multi-culture; transfiguration; hermeneutics.
