This article analyses and evaluates Margaret Gilbert’s proposal about collective intentional action, of wide repercussions on social sciences. This article is composed of two parts. In the first part, Gilbert’s proposal is tackled by considering two questions: (1) the examination of the nature of the subject collective actions, and (2) the reflection on the features that properly distinguish this kind of actions. In the second part, this approach is discussed, and the main obstacles for this position in order to constitute a viable candidate for explaining our collective intentional actions are settled.
