Resumen

SALLES, Walter. Paul Ricouer and a Hermeneutics of Self, Not a Mirror of Words. Utopìa y Praxis Latinoamericana [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.47, pp.41-58. ISSN 1315-5216.

This article discusses the construction of personal identity in the context of pluralism that characterizes the globalized world. In this process, cultural differences appear at the same time as both richness and threat. This discussion presupposes the importance of the hermeneutics of texts that gave birth to traditions of self-identity construction, taken as narrative identity. This is the particular case of Christian identity whose discussion, at least by theology and religious sciences, requires considering philosophy as a privileged interlocutor; in the particular case of this study, Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutic philosophy.

Palabras clave : Hermeneutics; identity; pluralism; text.
