DUTRA DE AZEREDO, Vânia. Conciliation of Opposites: The Birth of Tragedy in Nietzsche. Utopìa y Praxis Latinoamericana [online]. 2009, vol.14, n.47, pp.115-126. ISSN 1315-5216.
This paper presents the Nietzschean explanation about the origin of Attic tragedy based on the Heraclitean notion of contraries. Opposition between the Apollonian and Dionysian artistic impulses is related directly to fragments from the philosopher of Ephesus, who searches for harmony in the conciliation of opposites; additionally, the aesthetic-metaphysical pleasure of the tragic myth finds elucidation in the creation and destruction pointed out by Heraclitus. This paper considers that the basis for Greek tragedy in Nietzsches thought descends from Greek, not German thought.
