MATURO, Graciela. Rodolfo Kusch: The Search for Selfhood Through Encounter with the Other. Utopìa y Praxis Latinoamericana [online]. 2010, vol.15, n.48, pp.43-49. ISSN 1315-5216.
This brief article proposes to point out some central themes in the thought of Rodolfo Kusch (Argentina, 1920-1979) and signal this route as a path for a Latin American philosophy. With references to phenomenology, particularly Martin Heidegger, Max Scheler, Paul Ricoeur and Emmanuel Levinas, in whose current the Argentinean philosopher fits, the study seeks to show his originality in the search for the American cultural subject, especially indigenous or mixed people, as the basis for a philosophy situated in America. In the authors understanding, Kusch, whose work is beginning to be discovered in Europe and America, displays elements of a transcendental egology that includes the search for ipseity through intercultural and inter-subjective encounters.
