Abstract
FOLLARI, Roberto. Reflexions about Posmodernism, Multiculturalism and Social Movements in Latin America Today. Utopìa y Praxis Latinoamericana [online]. 2010, vol.15, n.49, pp.53-68. ISSN 1315-5216.
The postmodern was put in Latin America from the mid-eighties and, consequently, became a positive factual. Since then exercised, effectively existed as the humus of our everyday culture and-so-left to become visible as an external element to which it referred. It is a cultural environment, a condition of time, and not a coherent cluster thesis about the world or society. The truth is that the combination of the postmodern with the neoliberal offensive, turns out proved disastrous for Latin America. Such a situation, given in full in the 90s (Salinas de Gortari inMexico, Collor and Cardoso in Brazil then, Menem in Argentina, Fujimori in Peru) imply, as effects of the postmodern, a decrease of the cultural possibilities for resistance and an increasing of the individualism tendency or -in the best scenario- to the micropolitics. Thats where we uncelebrated multiculturalism and his apology that from postmodern cultural universe, diasporic and centripetal became politically correct thinking, perfectly adapted to the conditions of the postmodern world in which it emerged and almost inherently involves the tendency to atomization of the struggles of different ethnic groups, promotes horizontal segmentation of the demands to the state and often serves to divide the possible combination of various sectors of society to pressure the State or other powers.
