This article contains the results of research based on an análisis of social urban life in public spaces such as plazas and comercial centres, considered from a gender perspective. Qualitative methodological research strategies are employed that prove a gender relation with the these related categories: free time, public and private space, traditional roles, significance attributed to these spaces, and the morphology of theses spaces. Differences are indicated in relation to opportunities, time spent, and recreational experiences in the spaces studied.
