Abstract

BOZO DE CARMONA, Ana Julia. Explanatory Theorization of the State in Latin America. Frónesis [online]. 2005, vol.12, n.3, pp.9-37. ISSN 1315-6268.

This paper presents a theoretical explanatory framework for the categories on which it is possible to approach a definition and a characterization of the political system-state in Latin American political reality and practice. The categories are: Political state/system, political state or government, society, social actor, and political actor. The first step in this theoretical questioning was to analyze factual identification data in Latin American praxis. Based on this analysis a theoretical model is constructed containing the categories and their interaction. Then the development of a model proceeds within a framework in which exhaustive explanation constitutes the conceptual contribution of this paper.

Keywords : Political actor; social actor; state; political system; Venezuela.
