Considerations are formulated on the relation among democracy, integration and development in Latin America, studying aspects related to the problems of poverty, human rights, culture and democratic ethics. Specific aspects of the FTAA are approached and the situation of Latin America in the FTAA is analyzed. The conclusion is that the needed democratic consolidation and development of these countries might be favoured to the degree that the treaties are implemented through mechanisms oriented to guaranteeing advantages for all the participants. The study has been developed using a documentary investigation supported by the analytical method.
