Abstract

ALVAREZ BRICENO, Miriam. FIDES Community Funds: Approaching a Participative Experience in the Mara Municipality, State of Zulia. Frónesis [online]. 2007, vol.14, n.2, pp.114-142. ISSN 1315-6268.

This paper presents a panoramic vision of the practical operations carried out by the participative mechanism for assigning FIDES community funds, by studying the experience developed in the Mara Municipality of Zulia, from 2001 to 2005. Methodology used was a logical framework focus, with the help of social research techniques. Conclusions were that use of this mechanism evidenced a deficit in the participative process; therefore, it is recommended that actions be taken to create minimal conditions for propitiating equal opportunities of access to these resources, generating thereby effective participation of neighbours in directing expenses toward social investment.

Keywords : Mara Municipality; community funds; FIDES; participation; neighbors.
