Abstract

GELVIS LEAL, Obando; USECHE AGUIRRE, María C  and  QUEIPO PARRA, Beatriz. Democratic Education, Epicenter for Endogenous Development. Frónesis [online]. 2007, vol.14, n.3, pp.11-26. ISSN 1315-6268.

The objective of this study was to demonstrate that democratic education can be an epicenter for endogenous development; to accomplish this, it was necessary to perform a bibliographical review of the principles, actors and perspectives of the philosophical concept of democratic humanism as well as of endogenous development in the field of education, conceived as the process of interpreting man’s need to enter into work. Conclusions were that according to the guidelines of democratic humanism, the human being and the educational state are the central actors in the educational process for productive work, based on taking advantage of the potentialities of the medium in which they develop to produce goods and services in favor of organized majorities in local societies.

Keywords : Democratic humanism; ndogenous development; democratic education; human development; education for work.
