This essay proposes an introductory reading of the racial laws in Italy, from 1936 for the colonies and from 1938 against the Hebrews, from the perspective of Italian legal culture. After a synthetic introduction that describes the context in which the racist norms were born under the personal impulse of Mussolini, the study proceeds to analyze the racist legal discourse in its diverse propositions: from biological to spiritual racism. The importance and strength of the “philosophical” and “spiritual” expressions of the problem of racism, given by legal culture are underlined.
